More House

We are interested in our son joining More House for year 7 next September. We had an initial chat before half term and sent off the various reports but haven’t heard if they would like to meet him yet. Anyone with experience, how long did you wait between each stage? I am not good at waiting!

Hi Japril, we submitted our registration form just short of 3 weeks ago and we've not heard a peep from them (yet) to arrange our telephone appointment. I think they must be very busy with applications and interviews. I'd hang in there and take peace from knowing you're definitely not the only one waiting and wondering. x

Wonder if you ever heard back from MH in the end? This could be us in a years time and was interested in wait times.

You need to gently chase (call!). we handed in reports, had first meeting and taster days within 4 weeks. Having said that, they only started looking at applications just before half term.

sorry to come back after such a delay. We heard shortly after I posted this and managed to fit in a visit to the school before the end of term. My son has his taster days in the first few weeks of January and then hopefully they will offer a place fairly quickly. And then we either start buying lottery tickets or hope that the LA will pay for it.

For anyone who registered in November/December - admissions say they are backlogged and still working through October's registrations. It's a long wait.

My son is currently at More House and can add that they have to get through masses of applications, apparently I've heard from other parents only 1/3 of boys get through the application process......so there are lots they are meeting and assessing.

Sometimes admin can be a little slow, I agree with above little chaser call does help :)

Thank you. We have been offered a place which is very exciting but we are unfortunately at the mercy of the local authority agreeing to fund it 😬. I am not very hopeful!
