Dyslexia assessment educational psychologist

Hi everyone. I hope I’m posting in the right place. I’d really appreciate your educational psychologist recommendations please for London and the south east. We’ve been struggling along for ages and are convinced our DD is dyslexic or has some other learning difference/ difficulty.

Which educational psychologists do you suggest in the south east (London, home countries or further is okay). I’m unsure about people who say they can assess via zoom so prefer in person. Thanks

I've been through this process, but our assessor has retired so I don't have a recommendation unfortunately.

Have school done the dyslexia screening?

You could try Catharine Pierce, Jemma Levy, Ruth Birnbaum, Mike Davies, Valerie Hero. Some outside of London/SE will travel.

Thanks so much for the replies. School said they did screening but we didn’t get a result.

That's strange, do school support the possibility of dyslexia?

My experience is that if you're fairly sure it's likely to be dyslexia, it was cheaper and quicker to book a specialist dyslexia assessor. Doesn't sound like this applies to you though.

Thank you so much for your message. I think if possible an educational psychologist may be best in this case as dd may have other overlapping conditions. In summary sadly we have seen that the school are not supportive of a lot of things…That might be taking me off topic though…Dd was receiving extra support both 1:1 and small group. We also supported her and in a way this has influenced where we are as now they think the issue has magically gone away. It hasn’t of course. The senco has changed but was one of the first teachers who dismissed everything originally (so no point in is going back around that loop once again. Thanks again for replying I really appreciate it.

Have you asked for the results of the screening? If you have but the school has refused, you could submit a SAR. IMO, a full EP assessment is preferable to a dyslexia assessor’s report. Depending on DD’s needs, have you considered requesting an EHCNA?

Thank you. I’ll get back on to the list of jobs to do tomorrow. The SAR is a good idea rather than yet more letters and meetings. I expect I’ll have to do all of these though.
