Dd10 has dyslexia diagnosed and most likely has asd but this hasn't been dx. we are about to move to a new country where there is an option to attend a school for dc with sen where dd would be one of 5 dc in her class. the school is very small and is mainly aimed at getting good academic results by having very small classes and regular 1-2-1 tuition to cater for their sen. Mainstream school is exhausting for dd and she regularly says she hates her current school. her dyslexia assessor also warned she would become more exhausted as she gets older due to more reading and writing bring required at school.
When i mentioned the new school she said she just wants to go ms school and is worried that 5 dc in the class won't be enough to make good friends. The school has a shorter day due to having less dc and I plan to sign her up for other clubs, two of which are sports she has been doing for years and very sociable so I'm sure she will make friends there.
I can't decide if to aim for mainstream school where she is already exhausted and will probably end up not doing as well academically or sending her to the school for dc with sen and then being more reliant on outside clubs to make friends. tbh she hasn't really made any solid friends at her current ms school so I'm definitely thinking school for dc with sen would be better but don't want to not take her view on board when everything else around her is also changing. any thoughts welcome
