Vision Therapy and sleep

Hello,

DD14 has a diagnosis of autism and dyslexia. From being a newborn she always had a problem with sleep, just unable to fall asleep no matter what we tried, was a really difficult time. Finally seemed to have overcome this last year following an 8 week course of reflexology. For the last year she has slept brilliantly, had a huge impact on her mood and her achievement academically and with sports, which she loves. Home has been a much happier place.

Anyway, she started vision therapy last month due to severe convergence issues. She is currently doing retained reflex exercises. Her sleep has become disrupted again, unable to fall asleep it’s causing her a lot of stress and she is worried ‘it’s happening again’. I have spoken to the vision therapist who said this should be temporary whilst the fear paralysis reflex is integrated. Guess I am looking for some reassurance! Did vision therapy impact your child’s sleep and how long did that last?

Just so as not to drip feed, she continues to have reflexology during school holidays, so I don’t think the reduction in her sleep is due to the positive effect of reflexology wearing off. I appreciate people may have different views on reflexology, it’s just something that has worked incredibly well for my DD.

Thank you.
