New school and transport

Hope this is right forum for this question.

We are moving counties for new job in July but have yet to find a house due to lack of rentals. We may have to take anything, rather than being able to choose anything about location, schools etc

I have 3 kids, 2 preschoolers and a 6 year old, eldest is on SEN register. No EHCP or formal diagnosis but possible ADHD/demand avoidance profile autism, was excluded due to bad behaviour when a supply teacher was in. We also have a report from council worker (psychologist?) Commenting on communication difficulties.

My concern is that rhe school we are offered for her is more than half a mile away, I can't drive and transport the kids by walking/bus. My SEN kid can have real issues with this, we live a 7 min walk from current school but it can take us nearly an hour in the winter term, in the rain, when she's tired and had a bad day etc

Is there anything I can do in this situation? Ideally I'd identify schools good with SEN with places and then choose a home, but at the moment I will be lucky not to be homeless its so tough out there.

If DC1 cannot reasonably be expected to walk to school because of her disability she will be eligible for transport to the nearest suitable school. However, without any evidence you may have a difficult time getting the LA to agree.

If the nearest suitable school is more than 2 miles away DC1 will be eligible for transport on distance.

Alternatively if transport isn’t an option have you tried a SN buggy?

How would I prove she has issues working given that she doesn't have a physical disability?

Is there such a thing as a double SN buggy? I need my 2 Yr old to be strapped in too.

A GP, OT, physio, ed psych, paediatrician, CAMHS, social worker could all provide evidence.

There are some SN buggies that can be made into doubles e.g. Excel Elise, Maclaren Major, Special tomato, Axiom Endeavour. Or if a buggy board or pod would work for younger DC they can be attached to some SN buggies.
