Asd traits

Teacher has said dc has Asd traits. I'm not worried or anything just wanted some feedback tbh. I've previously worked with children with Asd (albeit younger than my dc)

At school -
Only one friend.
Very quiet.
If any teacher says good morning there is no response.
Often will only write two lines of work in a 40min lesson.
Does maths at a higher level of the top of head but can't always show his working out.
One day in a lesson did no work, teacher asked at end of lesson why, they shrugged and licked the paper...

At home -
spends too much time on tablet playing Roblox, minecraft, watching YouTube.
Used to flap arms around but this was for about a year, 4 years ago and has stopped.
Ggets over excited when someone comes and visits in the house and gets angry when they leave hours later.
Quiet except when playing with other dc

It sounds like there is enough to warrant further assessment.

Thankyou @ThomasWasTortured - I am intrigued about your username GrinGrinGrin

Also today I have been informed dc has been internally excluded due to his behaviour and lack of understanding/ compassion

Where do I stand with this?
Wasn't until I got home I thought "first they think it's Asd now this..." doesn't seem fair really

I think you need a referral for assessment. In some areas you can self refer, if you can’t, the school or GP will be able to. In addition to that, you need a meeting with the SENCO. What support is the school currently providing and what further support are they going to provide? Also, think about whether you need to request an EHCNA.

Trains were once a special interest of DS3’s. We still have a large train and track collection (Thomas, Hornby, brio, brio impersonators (as DS3 calls them)…) that come down from the loft during times of stress. DS3 is going through a difficult time at school, so they have come out and when I NC’ed he was making an elaborate story about Cranky and Big Mickey torturing Thomas for his political beliefs Shock Grin.
