Develop strengths or focus on struggles?

DS(6) diagnoses with autism, adhd and FASD. Attends a fantastic special needs school.

He is really showing a flare for literacy and maths and we have been doing a lot
of work on this at home because he enjoys it. We read together, he reads independently, and his comprehension is fantastic too.

He really struggles with writing. I suspect
maybe dysgraphia as he is happy to trade letters and words but just can’t seem to bring them to mind when needed.

I don’t want to overdo the home learning when he has such a long week (45min commute either way to school). We do the literacy and maths because he loves it but am I right to relax with the writing and let rest school focus on that? Although I also suspect PDA and he doesn’t really engage with writing at school much at all!
