Can anyone help? I’m driving myself mad waiting for an EHCP decision.

I’m waiting for a decision on my DDs EHCP. It is due next week (she has already been assessed).

At the beginning of the process, I was told I would have contact from a case worker rather than the administrative team only once the plan is at writing stage. I called the team and asked for an update this morning and was told they’re unable to give me a decision over the phone but I’ve been allocated a case worker who will be in touch to communicate the decision soon.

I don’t want to get too excited, does this likely mean DD will be given a plan? Would I need a case worker to tell me it’s been refused as a standard template letter could come from the administration team?

I am sending DH , DD and the DCat scatty with my impatience to find out.

I wouldn’t count your chickens just yet.

@ThomasWasTortured I know and I’m trying extremely hard not to. It’s so difficult though as the wait is torturing me.

In my Local Authority, a caseworker would normally be needed to take it to panel, so it may be that a caseworker has taken it, and panel have refused to issue an EHCP. The person on the phone would rather you wait to hear from the caseworker because they may not know the right answer, or perhaps they do but don't want to break bad news.

You could check with your child's current school to see if they have received a consultation. I mean, they shouldn't have without you also receiving the draft plan. But these things do go wrong.

Sorry to be the voice of doom but a decision to issue may prove to be something of a pyrrhic victory. DC's is utter rubbish - they've ignored high quality evidence and forensic challenge on their sloppy and factually inaccurate draft. Think they just hope to palm people off with nothing in the hope they haven't got the resources for an appeal.
