Hi all DD is 8. She has had severe speech delay and developmental language disorder. Under NHS speech therapy and we have been paying privately for speech therapy since she was 3. She is just about the be referred to the Neuro development service by the SENCO at school. She was screen for ASD at 3 yrs due to severe speech delay. But they did not think it was. She has made good progress with her speech. But her language use is not normal in the way she speaks sentences. I think she also may have ADD. She falls over a lot and bumps into doors, corners of worktops/cupboards. She flaps her Also when walking together in the road she seems to have no concept of where her body is and zigzagging all over the place. It’s very difficult for her to concentrate on any task and she is easily distracted. Does it sound familiar? The private speech therapists said she thought she should be referred. The senco has agreed. I took her to the GP this week as she has balance issues and she agreed she thought it was a good idea. I did some research and realise the link between language disorder and neuro diverse conditions is very high. What should I expect?
