Trouble with comprehension

Please can any one help me. I am feeling so sad tonight. My 10 year (year 11) is struggling with basic comprehension of tests and is not going to pass his SATs. It is not about the sats, but the worry about how hard secondary school will be for him. The ironic thing is that that I am an Sen specialist. I have four children and in year 2 it was mentioned about his lack of comprehension. I have always supported him and no one has until now told me how behind he is. I have raised my worries with my husband over the years but been told I was wrong and that he is fine. He is great at maths and so sporty but he can not answer simple questions from texts. He is a fluent reader, but it took him much longer than my other children to learn to read and he hates reading. I have had conversations about dyslexia and the senco did a test which scores where all over the place and she said it was hard to say if he was or not. I think he has processing difficulties but not for maths. Anyone else have similar experiences. Do I pay for a private dyslexia test ? He knows he is struggling and it is breaking my heart. I am angry with myself for not listening to my instinct 😞Sorry for the rushed thread.

Rather than an assessment by a dyslexia assessor consider a full ed psych assessment.
