Hi

My DD is 13 and is on the waiting list for an Assessment via NHS, which is 12-18 months.

We cannot realistically wait that long.

Any recommendations of Private facilitators in the Shropshire area would be welcome

TIA

We used The Autism Service which is based in Shrewsbury for our boy. He was 4 at the time, but I believe they do adolescents. I think they used ADOS along NICE guidelines and were very thorough. There was a long video conversation with us as parents, one session in their clinic with him and one at his nursery setting. There was also a follow up video consultation where we received the diagnosis and got to ask questions.

The private assessment was accepted for his EHCP and is also in his medical notes.

Having finally gotten NHS assessment recently I can compare the two assessments and the private one was far, far, far more thorough (way more questions, background information, time spent with him etc.) so I am very pleased.

It did take a little while though, I think it was two months from first contact to diagnosis. And of course private isn't cheap! Something to factor in anyway.

Best of luck!
