SEN friendly birthday party

Hi,

DS is going to be 12 in a few weeks. He has asked to go out for his birthday and would like to invite school friends. He attends a SEN school and whilst DS is able to physically able to do most activities, some of his class are wheelchair users and have the large electric wheelchairs. We want to invite the whole class (it's a small class anyway).

Our home is out as there are steps leading in and our halls and doors aren't large enough. So I'm trying to think of activities, ideally in one location or parties suitable for everyone to participate in.

DS has his heart set on a party.

Any ideas?

Could you hire a hall? Get DS to pick a theme and maybe some of these activities would be suitable?

Cinema if you have one with enough wheelchair spaces locally.

Depending on specific needs of the class some escape rooms might work or a meal out. Again depending on specific needs if you have a pool with hoist/lift and good disabled facilities locally that could work.

We attended an amazing SEN party not long ago. A lot of kids were in eletric wheelchairs and they could all join in. They had it in a village hall which had disabled toilets and accessibility and hired an entertainer. This entertainer we had seen at other parties but he has a routine for SEN parties so that might be an option? Lots of sensory stuff like foam, bubbles, lights and the parachute. Plus props were taken around that kids could feel and touch plus for musical chairs it was dots on the floor.
