Hello,
I’m currently looking for some support centres for my 2years 8months old daughter who is suffering from language and speech delay. I found First Bridge Centre based in London. She is in the nursery and also she is in SALT for several months now. however the progress is very very slow.
Has anyone had any previous experience attending First Bridge center? Is it worth it?

I don't have any specific experience of the place you have asked but hoping my experience might offer some guidance.

My son is speech delayed. His nursery were rubbish at mentioning it to us and doing the referral to SALT. I think they were hoping to rely on the health visitor doing it so they didn't have to, but this was delayed due to COVID. Due to this I moved my son to a nursery who has a SENCO specific to the nursery, not just a school wide one. This meant he got a specific action plan and all the staff did 1:1 speech activities with him throughout the day. So I would suggest finding a nursery that either specialises in speech intervention or who has a dedicated SENCO.

As for speech therapy then I didn't notice much difference with the sessions themselves. Instead I saw the progress when I started implementing the different strategies and games at home. I would recommend taking a look at Pippin the speech delay app. There are speech games and books to try at home. Some of my son's favourite games are from this app.

Hi, how long ago was your experience please? I am looking at this centre to start in a few months but very skeptical after reading your comments. Hope to hear from you soon.

Are you able to provide any good ABA programmes at all? My child has no diagnoses as of yet. Some social anxiety when around other children which I feel they need support with and felt that ABA would be a good place. Thank you for your response. I really appreciate it.
