First sen appointment... help?

My 7 year old has their first appointment with the paediatrician soon, I don't know what to expect from this appointment and assume it's just a chat? Obviously child is coming with us to the appointment, but I don't know how to approach discussing childs issues when they are sat right next to us? They don't know what autism, adhd, sensory issues or anxiety means. They asked us what the appointment was for and I honestly did know what to say or how to explain?? Any advice?

We haven't got that far yet but my child is a similar age, and when we got the pre-assessment forms there was one for her to complete. We explained it as seeing if there was a reason she found some stuff harder than other children and so far she's accepted that.
