Hi all,

Please someone help me ... my ds got diagnosed with adhd when he was 6.5years, we only medicated him this year, he is 8 this week, we went to a clinic appointment with his consultant and she has noticed his understanding is a bit poor so has sent for gentic tests for Learning disabilities but i dont quite understand what they are exactly testing for, I am nervously awaiting results, but I the meantime his iron levels have come back low and needs to take sytron for 6 weeks, he has a great balanced diet, what other explanations would cause his iron count to be low ...

Any advice on the gentic tests too would be great x

Hi
Can you please share your experience of Methylphenidate? Cannot decide, if I should.
Ds, 9.

Hi mum of rosy, methylphenidate has been a lifeline too our family, we was hesitant on medicating and waited 12 months before we actually decided to give it a try and the difference has been amazing, he started on 10mg of equaysm xl and tritated until we found the right dose for him which is 30mg, he is a lot more settled and cooperative on them, at first he had mild tummy ache but that only lasted for 4 or 5 days, it hasn't effected his appetite which is a good thing too. Its the best decision for him and us we have made. 😊

I had no clue they had genetic tests for learning and neurodevelopmental conditions. please share what you've found out!!!

Hi yellow, me neither until she mentioned it, as of now we having found nothing out as results take upto 8 weeks, I have since spoken with his consultant, they are micro array tests which will check his chromosomes for any defects or duplications etc, which would then further explain the reason for him being behind and struggling in school. From.his routine bloods we have found out his iron level is low and had to now take sytron.
