DS 14 has ADHD, ASD and is visually impaired. Due to confusion he was asked to do isolation today. He shouldn't really, but it's not worth the fight to get him in to normal lessons. He has also broken his finger badly with his whole arm in a cast. When in isolation he was in immense pain from the cast and not given any work to complete. So he sat in a grey room with grey desks, no work and a lot of pain. He ended up removing the cast. No sympathy or concern from LSA. Instead she started laughing at him and telling him he's done this to himself. He several times asked her to "shut up" if she has nothing nice to say but she continued to laugh at him. She sent an email about the situation. Nothing happened. He asked for medical care. She continued to laugh and told him to wait. In the end the pain was too much so he left to go to the office. She followed him, continued to taunt him, and told him he would be excluded by going to the office. Taking the cast off revealed a black finger that has now returned to normal. No wonder he was in pain!
I have told the school that I would like to make a formal complaint and that she is to have no further contact with him. There was another pupil there that he has asked to be a witness. I had a meeting with the Sendco this morning after several unprofessional encounters with this particular LSA, where I was told she would no longer be involved. We've only had her for two weeks! Previous LSA was fine as are all teachers. They praise his behaviour. But this one woman is making school unbearable for him.
Needed to vent!
