I have posted in this in education as well - not sure best location...
We are looking this school for my son for Y4 entry next year. He has dyslexia and dyspraxia, and possibly ADHD (inattentive). Very bright. He's doing well at his current prep school; however, he definitely is not achieving his full potential (without sounding like a crazy tiger Mum, that was conclusion of Ed Psych, we didn't realise how bright he was till that point).
He's happish, but we have started to see self-esteem issues arise. I just get the sense over the next few years he may become more and more the odd one out. Most of the boys want to play football all break time and my child struggles to play.
Are they good for very bright children? Or are we better staying where we are with 1:1 on top. My concern at the moment is his 1:1 is very much go out the classroom and then come back and crack on. I like the fact this would not happen at Bruern Abbey.
What's behaviour like? I've had reports of "free-range children". My son is very obedient (possibly too much) and I worry if he was surrounded by lots of boisterous children it may be too much.
Before anyone says "go state and top up" is needs are such he wouldn't get an EHCP (Ed Psych said so). He would not cope in a case of 30 children. It would just be too loud and overwhelming.
