Disability pushchair help!

Hey everyone. We are looking for a disability pushchair for our son & I'm struggling to find something suitable.

If anyone can give any advice I'd appreciate it :-)

He's 4 years old, 110cm tall & 20kg. He's in 7-8 year clothes so very big for his age. He's autistic, very mobile but likes the safety of his pushchair & struggles with sensory overload whilst out of the house so prefers to watch the world from his pushchair. We currently have an out & about nipper which is great but he's getting too big for it. We need something that can go off road when walking the dogs & also reclines as our son likes a nap sometimes. We have a Honda accord estate so a decent sized boot, H 70cm x L 100cm x W 106cm.

I've looked at;
The KFN Explorer all terrain manual buggy which looks perfect but it's abit pricey.
The advance Mobility freedom but that's too big for our car.
The special tomato jogger looks good but I think our son will outgrow it quickly.
The Maclaren Major Elite but it doesn't recline & again I think our son will outgrow it quickly as it says suitable for upto 8 years old & he's already at that size.

Any advice please, tia x

Unfortunately, your choice will be significantly restricted by your boot size. SN buggies are pricey, but if you aren’t eligible for wheelchair services there are some charities that give grants towards them e.g. Caudwell Children, Whizz Kidz, Newlife, Boparan Trust, Florence Nightingale Aid in Sickness Trust…

The Delta Delichon is pricey, but brilliant. We haven’t met somewhere it can’t handle yet, it has the added advantage of being able to be converted and attached to bike. I think a medium would fit in your boot.

Axiom do a few different styles in different sizes right up to adult size, but even their small sizes aimed at 5-8 year olds are too big folded, I think. They also aren’t cheap. We also have one of these too (yes, we have two Blush) and while it’s not as good as the Delichon we have it is still more than adequate.

Kool strides sports buggy would just about fit in your boot too.

Based on our experience I think you would get a few years out of a special tomato jogger. There’s others that are similar sizes to the special tomato jogger such as the Ormesa bug, but I don’t think they will last any longer.
