I’m kind of worrying.

My daughter is 3 years old ( 4 years old in Oct) She can say around 2 works clearly these only
come about within the last 6 months. She’s had genetic testing all ok, cleft palates checks all ok and just waiting on MRI.

she really tries to talk but can never get it out clearly or so others understand her. She struggling with potty training as she doesn’t understand when she needs to go.

she dribbles a LOT!

i just don’t know what to do anymore any advice?

What professionals are involved ?

You mention cleft palate and you mention waiting for an MRI and you mention genetic testing, so it sounds like you are already under several professionals or at least appointments that a Paediatrician would ask for.
Have they referred to audiology ?
To SaLT ?

I would try talking to your GP first. They can refer to the services that you need. Community Paediatrician is the first thing to ask for a referral to.

Have you had a hearing test done for your daughter? If not then I would suggest asking for this to be set up.

I believe my son's speech delay is due to difficulty with hearing, unfortunately the doctors won't intervene yet because it might correct itself naturally.

Are you under speech and language department? Although I haven't found this massively helpful it is helpful so you can get other services and help. You can self-refer if you don't want to go through your doctor or health visitor.

The most effective thing I have done is to teach myself how to be my son's speech therapist at home. So I do lots of speech activities with him at home. I believe it is this which has helped his speech develop and make progress.

I would recommend this speech delay app, called Pippin. It has only just recently launched but has loads of great resources. I wish this existed 18 months when I was starting my son's speech journey!
