Autistic child and respite

Hi, my son is 9 and has ASD and high anxiety, the lockdown really affected him and he now refuses to leave the house, my wife is basically housebound with him everyday as I work full time.
He doesn’t respond well to anyone coming into the house apart from close family.
I was wondering if it’s possible to apply for funding/respite for my wifes sister to watch him in our house for an hour a day or a few hours a week, so my wife can leave the house occasionally, her sister would have to shorten her work hours so we would need funding to make up the difference?

Thanks

You can ask for social care assessments, a carer's assessment for DW and an assessment via the disabled children's team for DS, which may lead to funding for respite.

Have you applied for DLA? And subsequently carer's allowance for DW?

Does DS have an EHCP? Are the LA providing alternative education? Is DS receiving support?
