Hospital referrals

My son attends a sen school he has a diagnosis of autism and global developmental delay.
He has been referred to the school nurse today I received a letter about a hospital referral she made to the continence team which has been refused as he was already known to them and was referred to secondary care.
She did not inform me she was putting this referral in, I've never been contacted by her, so should she have informed me about the referral or do they not have to?
I personally think parents should be informed about these things.

Mainly posting to bump. My ds is in ms school so not sure if things work differently in sen schools. But I would assume any referrals should be ran past parent as I'm assuming school nurse doesn't have full medical history? Plus surely it's polite to check with parents/work together.
