Happy 13th Birthday

My DS becomes a teen today. I also received via email this morning (what timing...) his final EHCP along with an application for to apply for a free bus pass.

It's made me incredibly sad. I should be happy this help is in place but it's not the end of it all is it? His behaviour in school has dipped this last month, I'm really doubting his ability to cope in mainstream school and he's been really hard work at home. But we've had a reset at the end of term as he was grounded and I'm hoping we can have a fresh start in the new year.

His saving grace is that he's a likeable chap and I know he'll do well in the future once he's found what he wants to do with his life. It's just so hard. He stayed at his dad's last night and I'm enjoying the calm before I go over for present opening.

Not sure why I'm posting, I just wanted to share and I suppose I'm looking for some un-mumsnetty hugs if there are any going spare?

And now texts asking me to come over with presents. No hi, no please, no acknowledgment of my birthday greetings.

Typical teen maybe but on top of everything else...

Bless its hard at times isn't it. But yes good to have support in place. Just love your son for who he is and hope that others will do the same. The thing is, his expectation of normal isn't yours so what works for him might not seem enough for you but it's as long as it's ok for him.
