DS2 has been on the waiting list with CAMHS since November '19. Hasn't even got an appointment yet. The school do their best and he has 1:1 support most of the time. He has a sticker chart at school and gets stickers for good behaviour. When he's filled his sheet he gets a treat.
Today he got to bake cupcakes with his 1:1. What I'm struggling with is this - how is this fair on the other children in his class (Year 4) who generally get on with their work and do as they're told - they don't get to bake cupcakes.
Am I looking at this the wrong way? I guess it's not 'fair' that DS struggles so much at school with things most neurotypical children don't even blink at. Is it unfair to compare his school experience with others?
I'm tying myself up in knots here and feel pretty broken to be honest. I don't know why he's the way he is so I don't know how best to handle him. I feel like I'm flying completely blind.
