EHC assessment deadline - exception

I'm waiting for a call back for advice but does anyone have knowledge of the EHC assessment deadlines and exceptional cases?

I got acknowledgement of my request on the 12th July, school finished on the 21st of July and now it's the summer holidays so does this make our case exceptional to the 6 week deadline?

Also how long should I expect to wait for a decision after the deadline if this is the case? The deadline was today and I've heard nothing. The letter states that if the deadline could not be met I would be contacted.

I want to be clear where I stand before I send my letter of complaint.

Use the model letter to complain.

It's an exception if the council needs information from the school over the relevant period, but they should write to you formally notifying you of that.

Thank you both, I had a call back the following day to say they have agreed to assess :) I was worried would have to fight for it.
