12 yr old suspected ADD

My 12 year old DD has always struggled terribly with maths in particular, and I have recently hired a private tutor for her. The tutor feels she may have ADD. This didn't come as a huge surprise to me as her older brother has diagnosed ADHD, although I hadn't thought seriously about it as a possibility before as she clearly doesn't have the hyperactive element. Of course I now know from looking into it better that she probably has the predominantly innattentive type and her general symptoms certainly fit the bill. I feel a right arse for not looking properly into it sooner.
The tutor suggests taking her to the GP, but I can foresee them not being very helpful. Will they just insist the school need to be involved? The school have raised no concerns.
My son was diagnosed age 16 in the private sector having already developed anxiety and OCD on top of ADHD. We went privately with him due to horrendously long CAMHS waiting times.
Has anyone any helpful advice about the best way forward?
