Advice on first appointment re ADHD

Hello, anyone able to give me some advice on what to expect, or what to say? After a couple of years of wondering, finally spoke to our Gp about DS (13) possibly having ADHD. Lockdown really highlighted some issues that I had missed when he was at school. He already has a dyslexia diagnosis and has some motor tics.
Anyway he has been referred to CAHMS and our first appointment (phone call) is next week.
Not even sure if I'm meant to speak (as his parent) or if they just want to speak to ds. He won't say there is any issue if they speak only to him by the way.
Any experiences/advice would be greatly appreciated Confused

I don't have much information about how CAMHS works as we did a private assessment for DS (7). The first telephone appointment we did was with me. I had to answer a series of questions about his behaviour at home, school etc and they were essentially trying to understand the reasons for the referral.
The second consultation we had with the EP was in the presence of my son with 80% directed at me with only a few questions for my son about what he likes and doesn't like. The EP also gave us the choice as to whether I wanted my son to leave the room while I was answering questions.
So I think they won't ask your son any tricky questions he won't want to answer. hope that helps!

Thanks so much, that's very useful to hear. I actually got a call today and it's been rearranged to a face to face appointment which I think will be better.
