Respite care

I have a 14yo with profound learning disabilities and autism.
Currently he has one night per month in respite care. I don't get any say on the date it is just allocated.
I have 2 other children (non SEN) and I'm a single parent. The other dc go to their dads a lot but my 14yo is from a relationship prior to my exH and he has no contact with his father.

I have no support network, no family to give me a break and I'm at the end of my tether. The thought of never being able to go away or have some time to myself is really getting me down. I know this post is a bit of a woe is me post but I've now reached a point where I need the option to be able to have some me time.

I've been looking into private respite care homes for children, but I've not had any luck. The respite care he currently goes to is funded by the LA only.
This would only be for 2/3 weekends per year, just to give me a break but I can't seem to find anywhere. I'm in the East Midlands but would be willing to travel as of course the right place is paramount.
Can anyone suggest anywhere or where to look?

So sorry you're having such a hard time and yes, you do need a break!

Also if your son has an EHC Plan have you considered residential provision?

It sounds like you need to ask the local authority to update their care assessment under section 17 Children Act 1989. Also does your daughter have an EHCP and, if so, what does it have in the social care sections (mostly H1)? If it's little or nothing it could be worth asking for an early annual review and using that to ask them to revise the social care provision properly, and you may be able to take that to the Special Educational Needs and Disability Tribunal.
