DS8 has a history of glue ear, though never severe enough to fail a hearing test. An initial test at age 6 showed a little loss in one ear, but not much and that did improve over time.
His two most recent tests have shown no problems, yet he still goes through phases of reporting that he finds it hard to hear and turning the TV up very loud, even turning on subtitles. I've also noticed during home-schooling that he is turning the subtitles on during his class Meets.
I've noticed this lockdown that he has issues with reading comprehension. It seems no matter how many times I read the chapters he's been set, even breaking it down paragraph by paragraph, he can't seem to follow or retain what is going on.
Worth noting that he hates fiction and has no interest in text if it's not factual, so it could just be total disinterest. He speaks and enunciates extremely clearly, reads very well, is absolutely fine with phonics etc.
If his multiple hearing tests are clear, does this suggest some sort of processing issue? Or is he just being stubborn...
Ay pointers much appreciated.
