Hiya,
I'm pretty new on here, but am looking to speak with some parents in a similar position as i'm feeling pretty isolated.
I have twin boys 3.5. Applied for mainstream school, but nursery are v concerned about their delays and we've been referred to a paediatrician - although unsure what the wait list will be like. Feeling a bit in limbo. Unsure if mainstream or SEN school is best or if we delay as they are summer born and hope they catch up some more before school in a years time.
We don't seem to be getting any support or advice. Where do you guys get this from? Just trying to feel my way around the SEN system
Thanks

Do DTs have EHCPs? That is the best route to ensuring support is provided at nursery and school.

Hiya thanks for replying. No they don’t yet. I’m not sure on the process to be honest? They have been seen by SALT and an early years coordinator and now being referred to paediatrician.

You can apply for an EHCNA yourself. IPSEA is a charity, and on their website is a model letter you can use to send to the LA. There is very little chance of a special school place without an EHCP.

Has the early years area SENCO observed DTs or advised nursery? Is that the early years co-ordinator? If not, the nursery should request their input. If the nursery require extra funding in order to meet DT's needs they can apply for early years SEN inclusion funding.
