I’m wondering if anyone can help.
DD is August born (born early and was due in September), has always struggled at school since nursery. Now year 5 and still behind on writing and maths.
She was diagnosed last year gifted iq but with SpLD... processing, working memory, executive function and literacy development. May also have dyspraxia and or ASD.
She also had eye sight issues diagnosed late and under care of behavioural optometrist.
She has a dyslexia tutor now and making great progress with her.
I suppose with secondary looming I am concerned that she will not catch up in time. Also her organisational skills are poor and her emotional management of self. Her confidence is low and perfectionist tendencies hold her back. School are supportive with extra help etc but there’s 30 in a class and they’re obviously very stretched.
Part of me wonders If we should repeat year 5.. give her some time to grow up a bit and catch up .. probably not at the same school though.. she does have a group of lovely friends though.. very grateful for any advice if anyone has been in a similar situation. Thank you xx
