Writing and reading delays

Hi
I have found that my Ds who is 5 has difficulties in writing letters , remembering the letter shape and how it starts and is due to go for reception in Sep and is unable to write the name. He did have some speech delays which he was given speech therapy and has improved quite well
Just came across the Lindamood bell program after some research and found it very good
But it seems it is exetremely expensive for us.
Has anyone tried it? Or has anyone learned it by themselves by attending a worshop and then used it on their own child
By the way even online workshop is around £750 and another £400 for resources!!!!
But is way cheaper than their charges.
Also does anyone know the cost of their child assessment ??
Any information is greatly appreciated
Thank you
A worried mum

Hi.
What country are you in?
Where I live (England) dc usually start Reception when they are 4, but they aren't expected to be able to write their name, nor recognise letters, let alone write letters before they start school.
Some dc can, but there certainly is no 'expectation' and they certainly aren't 'behind' if they can't.

How on earth is a child who has not yet started reception classed as having delays or difficulties writing and reading? Sounds like he's doing really well. Perhaps if the situation is the same at the end of reception then yes she'll out for an expensive programme but for now there's no need
