Compulsive chewing needs

My son chews incessantly, his fingers, bedding, clothing, cushions anything really.

We've been buying him chewelry of all different kinds but he tends to just chew the safety lanyards and cords they are on.

Would it be safe to just buy normal safety clasp lanyards and let him crack on chewing them? It would save us a fortune but I'm worried the material is maybe not safe. He wouldn't swallow anything he eve chewed off, he just likes chewing and sucking fabric.

(We have taggy blanky for bedtime he won't take it out with him)

What about a chewy tube? No cord or lanyard, it's just the tube.
