(Also posted in SN chat but thought I'd get more traffic here).
Hi everyone. I’ve just rejoined after taking a break, have been here under various usernames since DS1 was born.
DS1 is 7y8m, in Year 2. He was assessed for autism this week (paid for by us due to waiting list) and was found to be above the threshold on ADOS and as a result of observations (done at our house) and developmental history. We probably would have gone ahead earlier but school were unsure as he’s cognitively exceeding expectations. We are looking forward to seeing the report at the end of next week.
I guess my question is, what now? He will be on the SEN register at school and be eligible for extra time in exams etc, but it would be great to get some recommendations for how else we might support him. School (small village school) are very accommodating and will act on any advice in the report. What do I need to know that the report might not outline?
