Yesterday was my dd 8th birthday and whereas we have always had great birthdays with her, yesterday she was different, anxious and sad and wingey. She has suspected ASD and wondered if this is the start of her not liking celebrations etc !

My DS now 17 and being assessed for ASC .. hates birthdays and Christmas. She won't open presents in front of people. Hates to have the spotlight in her.

My DD had her 13th the other day, she has suspected Aspergers or HF ASD. She hates celebrations of any kind, she took her presents to her room to open them. The issue is that she hates being looked at and she said she doesn't know how to react.

It did upset us but we had no choice.

No-one gives you a manual when your child is on the ASD spectrum. We love her, It's hard some days and people don't understand. It's was only when we realised our child is on the spectrum (or suspected) does it hit home how our parenting had to change.
