Hi DS has just started on Strattera having discontinued stimulants because he had such marked side effects.
It’s really early days but he is having lots of side effects and is exhausted with dark circles.
I would love to hear from anyone who has experience from it to see what it was like in the early days and if you have found it effective or discontinued due to side effects. We have been advised it takes a number of weeks to reach a clinically beneficial level but would love to hear how long before you saw an improvement and what it was like in the early days.
Feeling totally overwhelmed
Thanks so much

Hello, I have recently discontinued Strattera for my son... he was originally on Ritalin but this caused him to have angry outbursts (very unlike him) and he stopped eating. Paediatrician started him on Strattera but he had stomach aches whilst taking it and I found it flattened his personality which made it more difficult for him to maintain his friendships... which then spiked son’s anxiety. So he has been off Strattera now for 2 weeks and no more stomach ache whilst son’s playful personality has returned Smile However his concentration and quality of work are apparently beginning to slip back at school. Waiting for paed review next week and I hope she might prescribe Vyvance instead as I have heard good things about this medication.

My daughter is on Straterra after stimulants made her very anxious. We think it helps her concentration and she hasn’t experienced significant side effects. It takes a long time to start making a difference and we found it tricky to analyse how effective it was at first.

Thanks for your message and sorry I missed it. Such a difficult road to navigate. We stopped meds because of all the side effects and have our happy little boy back. There is an impact on concentration and work as you say. Good luck
