SEN and Academic Schools

Just that really, is the unfortunate view of Caterham school and others true that they don’t take many (outside those that come up through their juniors) with SEN issues and those that they find later on are gently advised/managed out?

Anyone with personal experience?

Not sure I want to put DC through the process if this is unchanged

Anyone able to comment on how good their SEN department is?

Are applications truly treated fairly/the same? Once entrance is passed and offers sent, SEN numbers are then viewed?

I suppose the same question would apply to any academic school...

My DD is 9. She is average IQ but functioning about a year behind in all academic areas. She has dyslexia, ADHD and ASD. I tried 3 'non-selective' mainstream private schools in Surrey and none wanted her. I feel guilty for putting her through it, but, well, at least I know now. I am trying dyslexia schools because as she is currently struggling through mainstream state primary I have a horrible feeling that the wheels will come off if she goes to a large state secondary (I've seen it happen to so many children with similar problems).
