I have an autistic child. Who doesn’t sleep? Beginning of June we were seen in clinic and asked for medication. Dr was reluctant to prescribe and advised following the cerebra guide on sleep hygiene

Today is the 1st August with no appointments in sight yet and I can’t cope anymore because I’m not sleeping.

I rang her secretary and explained dad had to stop working to support me at home as I have other children to deal with

What do you think is appropriate I don’t want to come across as if I cannot cope but in all honesty’s I can’t

Hello OP, also have an asd child that doesn't sleep brilliantly. However when we had him diagnosed the psychiatrist said she was happy to prescribe 3mg of melatonin per night and now he sleeps from 8pm to about 5am. We now have it brought back from the US by whichever friend or family member is travelling there as a bottle of 90 pills costs pence from a normal supermarket there. Could you try that? I find it much easier to be calm and patient when I've had sleep and he's a lot claimer as well now.
