Barrister Tribunal Cost

Hi,

Has anyone used a barrister for their tribunal and would be able to give me an idea for the on-the-day cost? Can you get someone to do just on-the-day or do you have to pay for beforehand too?
Any recommendations for representation on the day would also be very welcome :)
Thank you

I suspect at least £1000 plus VAT for a junior barrister, £2K or 3K plus for a more senior one. You are obviously not just paying for representation on the day but for detailed preparation, and in your shoes I would want to meet them or at least have a full discussion on the phone beforehand.

I'd suggest you try Fiona Slomovic, if you can get her - she's extremely busy. She's not a barrister but is very effective and much cheaper. She can however be difficult to get hold of as she is so busy.

Our LA conceded before tribunal but we still had barrister costs for conference call and drafting the working document. I’ve just worked out the hourly rate and That was charged at £167 per hour plus vat (much cheaper than our solicitor!).

Thank you BenjiB - would you be able to recommend your barrister and maybe message me his/her name?
