Diagnosis with a different local authority

My son (age 8) has a dyspraxia diagnosis and is on the waiting list with CAHMS Cheshire East for Autism assessment. This waiting list is over 2 years long and we are only 8 months in. Stockport CAHMS (healthy young minds) is 30 mins drive away and has a wait list of 6 weeks. They have said they are happy to assess but can’t speak to schools directly as out of area but can diagnose and give advice. School head, class teacher and ta all very happy to take advice from out of authority.
Has anyone ever gone to another authority for assessment for autism? Will this cause an issue for EHCP? Is it enough that School accept the diagnosis or does someone from Cheshire East need to ok it?? Sorry I’m a little unclear as to how this works after a diagnosis etc. Any advice/help gratefully received.
Thank you!!
