Diagnosis

Visited the GP with ds this week over something completed unrelated and while there she said that she thought he had an attention disorder.

She has said that she would write him a referal but that I should ask the school to arrange for him to be seen by a clinical psychologist in the first instance.

I have spoken to his teacher who stated that his concentration problems are not improving and said she would speak to the senco. But she seemed reluctant.

Reading other threads it appears that it is not school I need if I am expecting some sort of diagnosis so can anyone tell me what I need to do?

I can't help, Crocky, other than to say that I'm sorry you got this out of the blue from the doc.

I'm sure someone will come on very quickly and give you good, sound advice.

The school may have to wait a while to get him seen by a psychologist. If your gp has referred him to a paedriatrician he could get a diagnosis through that.

Thanks both.
I am thinking then that it would be easier and quicker if i go back to the GP and ask her to write the referal.
