I have spent years trying to get an EHCP for my ds. I have had to go through been told my ds's behaviours and difficulties were down to my parenting! I've even been told my ds was manipulating me. I hit a large brick wall at every turn. No one would listen. As parents we know our children, we see very clearly their difficulties. After years of fighting to get my ds the support he clearly needs I have finally been heard! He is now getting an EHCP and a place at a more specialised school. I am very relieved but also angry and upset it has taken so long. For any of you going through a similar experience. Keep fighting to get your child what they rightfully need. Someone has to listen eventually

Well done. It’s such a relief to have your voice heard. It’s great you’ve managed to advocate for your DS. So hard to keep fighting though isn’t it. I’m tired!

It's very hard, but worth the fight in the end. It shouldn't ever be so difficult

Well done OP.

It shouldn't be so difficult but it is.

You really do have to be that parent. Angry

Thank you Smile it's a shame that the kids miss out on much needed support for so long. They end in schools they shouldn't be in, struggling and often being bullied. Things need to change
