Social & communication assessment

My 6 year old has recently been referred for a social & communication assessment with a view to diagnosing autism. Could anybody whose child has had this recently give me some idea as to what happens in the assessment please?

I'm afraid this is dependent on where you live.
Some areas you see a paediatrician at a CDC. Some areas you go to CAMHS. Some areas have a multi-disciplenary team. Some areas it is a Paediatrician supported by a Speech Therapist.
You can either say where you are in the country and hope someone can tell you, for your area, or, go back to your referrer and ask them.
