My dd is year 10 despite trying to raise my concerns her whole school life regards to her learning school finally agreed 18 months ago that she has problems with processing, working memory and dyslexic, things have got so bad at school that I'm struggling to get her there and her anxiety is through the roof. I suspect Sens and asked time and time again for a Ed psych referral even our gp suggested it and it's been refused.
Dd was finally referred by our gp and is getting some help though CBT for her anxiety and despite only meeting this lady a few weeks ago she has been amazing in the support and advice she is offering. She is really concerned that dd hasn't ever had a proper assessment and is also very concerned about dd's learning (she picked up in our first 1 hour of meeting that dd has very bad learning issues) she is also concerned that despite dd's anxiety she is being sent into every lesson and expected to sit all GCSEs
Upon her request I have emailed the school asking for copies off all assessment they have done on dd with regards to her learning issues and also to ask again if they will be willing to refer to a Ed psych and surprise surprise they have responded (know someone else in involved) that they have already done this and that she is on a waiting list
funny how I wasn't told this at my meeting with the school 3 days ago.
The lady we are dealing with agrees that it's pointless dd doing all these exams that she has no hope of passing and instead of lots of different lessons she should be just going a couple to give her a chance and to help address her anxiety because the way things are dd won't even make sitting her exams. (Dd can not retain information)
Please can anyone advise how I go about dropping gcse ? Who do I need to contact?
Would it be possible for her to drop science and just concentrate on her maths and English ?
