Medication for Adhd advice need please

Hi,

I was told by Senco before half my son 11 is really struggling in the classroom. He not sitting on chair he leaning back and he moving the table.
Then she said I know you against this but please consider medication.

So I have read a lot of how it does help children which is really positive. But the side effects worry me. I mean sleep pattern, loss of appetite.

How do you all deal with that?

The funny thing is I said to the school I feel in my eyes he has calmed down a lot. To me he just growing up being rude. He is getting more independant aswell wanting to cook etc. So many things he helps me a lot aswell.

I am even more worried now because I was told a child in my son year group witnessed him being bullied. So went in dropped my son off. The head mistress and senco stood by gate. They quickly brushed the bullying aside said we will sort it but quickly went onto the adhd and him struggling in class. I think I was u

Maybe it's just not the right school?

hi my son is on low dose medicinet CR 20mg (once a day dose) and it just helps him to focus. My son has other needs such
as dyslexia and maybe some kind of dyspraxic tendencies. He hasn’t had any problems or side effects, we also give him breaks during school holidays and weekends if he’s not doing anything when he needs to be able to concentrate.

I think it has to be your decision but do listen to what the teachers are telling you. They wouldn’t be suggesting medication lightly.
