Can anybody tell me how accurate aptitude tests (CEM or similar) are for pupils who have specific learning difficulties.

TIA.

I can only tell you about DS. Dyslexic and ASD (HF).

CAT and ISEB pre test ( a modified cat), both by GL Assessment.

DS scores are all over the place and significantly move year on year for cat. His pre test scores were low.

This is a child who is top of his year group and who has been accepted into a very academic senior school.

CATS are used as a diagnostic tool.

ISEB - I can’t find anything in their literature that tells me about how their test has been developed with SpLDs / ASD etc...

So no, for DS these tests have not been helpful.
