We had the EHCP Outcomes meeting for DS2 (6 yrs) with HF ASD in February. We had a specialist AS unit (attached to mainstream) in mind and Statutory Assessment independently suggested the same AS unit. Final EHCP was released without definite school placement as were awaiting response from AS unit.
AS unit has since refused admission to my son - no reasons given to Statutory Assessment as to why.
We (my family and current mainstream school) are being stonewalled by Statutory Assessment.
I am in contact with a family support/advocacy group who have said they will contact on my behalf and advise on how to lodge a complaint.
DS1 (9yrs) has also been referred for ASD assessment.
I've an appointment with GP next week, as I'm beginning to notice my mental health is not so good and I look about 20 years older than I am.
I hope everyone else is having an easier time.

I have just started our journey for my son's EHCP. We are currently awaiting a decision to see whether they will assess. Very nervous.

Good luck.

My school submitted my sons in march. He was refused assessment bang on the six week deadline mid may. I submitted straight to tribunal and la had till 29 June to submit their case which they did half hour before the deadline saying they weren't going to oppose. They are supposed to start assessment within 4 weeks which would be week after next but are now saying they will start after summer holidays.

Don't be too disappointed if they refuse to assess I think most get refused now as a try on to see if you'll go away. My sons application was submitted by the school, there was plenty of evidence to show he wasn't coping and he had been excluded twice during the six weeks which I informed them of but their letter said that lots of children with autism can manage in school without support.

I knew it wouldn't get as far as tribunal hearing as they didn't have a keg to stand on,
