Dyspraxic handwriting programmes

Have been trawling through the Dyspraxia Foundation's bookshop and been dazzled by the array of handwriting programmes on offer. Has anyone tried any or found any to be good? Feel as though I need to go in to DS2's school and drag them kicking and screaming into a programme - but have no idea which one's work best! Any ideas much appreciated!

Sorry, don't know, but know what you mean about dragging primary schools out of the dark ages - am trying to do the same on my dyslexia drive! Good luck.

There's a thread further down about 'Write from The Start' (sorry, can't do links) which I've just bought for my DS, but we've only done two pages so hard to say if it's working yet!

Thank you for your posts. I'll look into Write from the Start. There seem to be a baffling amount of possibilities including one that's a multi-sensory programme. Makes me feel quite tired just reading about it.

just bringing this to the top again as I wondered what people concluded. Any luck ahundredtimes?

My dd is 5 and I'm also wondering if there are any hand exercises to help her prepare for writing (squashy or prickle balls, that sort of thing - have also seen something that looks like a mini tennis racket strung with stretchy elastic bands, which I presume they stick their fingers in and flex, anybody used one?)

Am also going to try a writing slope.

"Write from the Start" is brilliant, but you have to do it everyday for about 6 months before you get results. I got my son do the exercises for about 5 minutes a day. It was a bit of a battle but worth it. It is a dull and repetitive at times, but we got amazing results with it.

My son has just had a review with an occuaptional theraphist at school. It turns out that the reason he finds writing hard is that he has weak wrists. She has recommended a set of games/ exercises to strengthen his wrists.
