ADHD diagnosis - what next?

Really confused about I have to do next now that my DS has received the diagnosis via a pediatrician. Do I need to go to GP and get a referral for a EHC Plan and discuss this with the school? Do I also need to get a referral to an OT too? It's such a brand new area to me, different language and acronyms, I don't know where to start! Thanks SOO much for any help.

Was school involved in diagnosis? Is he known to the SENCO?

Thanks Strix. The school were the ones who suggested that there might be a focus issue, after that I went via a GP to a Pediatrician. The school haven't been able to action any formal support until we got the actual diagnosis which I understand.
I have a meeting with the school tomorrow morning to discuss the diagnosis. But having asked around it seems that I also need to get a EHC plan put together to ascertain what his specific needs are to that the school can work to these guidelines in supporting him. (It's a private school if that makes any difference to the way it's handled).
If you have any info, I'd be really grateful.

Well I am actually following behind you. Some issues were raised at my last consultation, resulting in me asking GP for an ADHD assessment. School and I have both submitted paperwork. I am waiting for CAMHS to refer him to neuro team fir assessment.

But, I were you, I'd pass the diagnosis to the school in a written letter, and tell them you are in the process of organising a recommended educational plan. Meanwhile, can the school suggest some things they could do? And you too probably have some suggested manageable adjustments that would help. For example, he needs an exercise break, or he needs clear single instructions. Maybe one of those digit toys to help him concentrate?

Is he straight forward ADHD? Or has he got some comorbid issues, which are very common with ADHD?
