My son is ten with HFASD, school have suggested above and wondered if anyone knew anything about it. It seems very invasive to the focus child is my first instinct but would appreciate input

What's the intervention about?

It's a way of getting kids in the class to empathise with and support a child who may be socially isolated for a number of reasons. I believe there is research to show it can help a child be more accepted by their peers.

I have done this, although many years ago. Your DC shouldn't be aware that he is the focus. It should be about creating a situation where he and possibly some other children, can learn social skills. There should be a mixture of children in the group and it should hopefully also help your DS to create friendships with some of them.
