Reports from SENCO

I'm new to all of this, my son is recently started being assessed by the SENCO. I'm finding it all a little stressful so I may be sensitive.

I recently had a meeting with the class teacher and SENCO which was very helpful.

But along with the usual termly report from school we also received (just for DS) an extra report from the SENCO. I'm not sure how to take the report and how helpful it is.

Is it usual to receive this sort of thing. Not sure what to take from it. I find it very unhelpful. But is this usual to receive. If so, what do I take from it?

Don't worry - it IS stressful and it's hard not to be sensitive about these things!

How old is DS and is he diagnosed with anything?

My DS is 6 (yr 2) and was diagnosed with ASD about a year ago. I haven't had anything like this as such, but our SENCO is shit-hot and everything I've had has contained a lot more evidence/substantiation, IYSWIM. But it's a start. Did it come with any sort of plan?

I'd ask for another meeting with the SENCO to discuss next steps.

He's 6. He's not been diagnosed with anything and she said that he's not displaying anything that rings any alarm bells. That's what she said when I tried to ask what she thinks is the matter.

It's the teacher that wanted him seen by the senco and not me.

He's doing great with his learning, and his behaviour is great too. It's just his listening to instructions isn't great.its frustrating I know but was surprised at the senco being involved I guess. The first thing we're looking into is his hearing.

But honestly saying your hold doesn't have a sense of humour. What's that supposed to achieve? I'm not sure what to do with that information.

Completely disagree because everyone always comments how funny he is!

The senco wants me to get his hearing checked again, as his balance isn't quite right so she thinks they need to look at his ears.

Also that should say son not hold.
